Floral Cookie Decoration Examples by Mary Mansfield

Who doesn’t love getting flowers? What if they come in as cookies? Rochester, New York based Mary Mansfield creates these extremely beautiful cookie vase and flower arrangements. Like needlework, she decorates the cookies she bakes like pieces of art with delicate details. We can only imagine how much time she spends on making these cookies, but she says “Once in a while you have a project that’s so creatively satisfying, you let yourself get lost in it and time stands still.” You can see a fresh bouquet of edible daffodils in a Delft cookie vase or lilacs with sugar crystals and the swirls on the leaves which is our favourite floral composition. “The Annual Lilac Festival may have been cancelled this year due to social distancing needs, but no one told the lilacs. I’ve been enjoying some beauties on my morning walk.” she says and gets into her kitchen to create the edible version of lilacs that you can see in the first photo. The cookies you can see in the second photo also has a lovely story that you must hear; “I had the pleasure of creating this set for a very thoughtful husband to give to his wife, after closing on their first home today. He shared with me some of her favorite things: their dog “Lady”, magnolia trees, succulents… he provided lots of inspiration. Seeing the smile on his face when he picked them up truly reinforced why I love what I do. Here’s wishing Nate, Giselle and Lady many years of happiness and fond memories in their new home. So glad I could play a small part in this new chapter in their lives.” Flowers provide endless combinations and inspiration and creatives make use of it perfectly, don’t you think?
