Standard Studio from Amsterdam took quite literally the famous expression ‘’School is your second home’’. Once an old school building, named Ons Dorp, today is transformed into beautiful and spacious apartments for 10 families. Each apartment has a different structure plan, based on the individual wishes of the participants, but they all have certain style in common. The mezzanine was added in all those high ceiling rooms, which gave whole family the spirit of being together, but also having a bit of privacy. The concrete floors and steel staircases were kept from its school days, and specially designed furniture pieces were created under it. This crossover between old and modern resulted in a bright and warm interior. The large, open space from former school was used to brighten lives for these lucky families, and we must agree these pictures have lighten our day as well.
