New Jersey based Portuguese artist Marlene Marques gives new life to her old books by transforming them into sculptures. She folds up their pages, tears but never destroys and the hours of creative process results in ingenious pieces of art. She can make figures such as a ballerina, Santa Claus, heart, penguin and she can also write names with book pages. She aims to bring paper books into our homes again in the age of e-readers and e-books. She says “In the end I think I’m inspired by a love of books, and their smell,” she says. “What better way to recycle them than to re-create them into works of art?” on Instagram Blog.
