Russian Elena Efremova is a self-taught artist who lives in the south of France with her husband. She is outstanding with her series in which she completes the natural sceneries and historical places with her watercolor paintings. We got in touch with her via Instagram and asked for detailed information about her artwork. She said “The most important thing in my life is watercolor. I don’t have a professional art education. When I was already adult, I studied at a couple of art studios for adults, attended master-classes of famous artistes and I drew a lot myself. I’ve been drawing about 10 years and several last years I drew everyday.” We asked her about her inspiration for such an impressive series and she told us; “Every painter paints himself. Of course I have only my world in my mind. And my paintings – they are about how I see things arround me. But connection between painting and foto – it’s opportunity to show how world in my mind connected with reality.” She generally paints the landscapes that she comes across during her travels. You can see Swiss vineyards, charming beauty of Saint-Petersburg, titian red roofs of Lisbon and many more in her portfolio. “The most difficult thing is when you begin painting in grey cloudy weather and then, suddenly, sun appears and remains at sky and it is impossible to change first, cloudy color gamma and impossible to use new one, sunny.” she noted below one of her photos. Here you can enjoy some of Elena’s inspiring paintings and follow her on Instagram for more. You’ll be amazed at how the painting blends in the landscape!
