Hyundai’s Electric Resto-Mod of 1986 Grandeur Flagship Sedan

On its 35th birthday, the original Hyundai Grandeur from 1986 has just gotten its grand celebration in form of time-traveling rebirth. The famous sedan now has come back as an electrifying retro-futuristic resto-mod. The modern interior is in burgundy velvet and Napa leather, while from outside it almost stayed the same as the original oldie with few subtle updates. The inside of the car contains a few hidden jams, secrets in a way, like the center console armrest that pop-outs compartment for storing valuables. Dials and buttons have been replaced on the dashboard with an ultra-wide touch-screen display, yet somehow it still has its 80’s vibe thanks to other included retro gear. “As our designers conceive the future, it’s important to look back on what we’ve created in the past and find inspiration in it,” said Hak-soo Ha, Head of Interior Group of the Hyundai Design Center.
